MICHAELBRAILEY is an 18-year-old, producer and classical composer from Exeter, currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK. His vast output of both acoustic and electronic music has been recognized by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, regarding him as Principal Composer, and by the London-based record label Nonclassical as a DJ and remixer.
A multi-faceted artist with a strong ear for dynamic arrangements, enveloping textures, and delicate melodies, MICHAELBRAILEY announces his work as a solo artist with the stunning 'Pericardial' EP. Named after the term ‘pericardialcentesis,’ the medical procedure for removing fluid that builds up around the heart and thus relieving pressure off of the heart, 'Pericardial' is a cathartic and gripping immersion into Brailey’s hefty, emotional sonic world. Approaching the songwriting for this release with the subtitle 'the categorization of every heart', each track revolves around a different type of love.
Kicking off with a cover of FKA twigs’ breakout single “Water Me,” the listener quickly enters Brailey’s cinematic, slow-burning style that puts on full display both his intricately-arranged, atmospheric-heavy productions and his soaring yet fragile falsetto delivery. Brailey’s original songwriting skills come into focus on the following four original tracks, while his growing production skills take the spotlight on his joint remix of “The Law” alongside electronic producer Robert Young.
