Shelf Nunny is the alias of current Seattle-based electronic musician Christian Gunning. A creator of beautiful melancholic beats, his exploration into music production began in 2012 while living in California and collaborating with his friend Oliver Nickell aka Tree. Their impressive early works quickly landed Tree a contract with coveted UK label Apollo Records, while Shelf Nunny continued to plug away and learn his craft behind the scenes. Finding heavy inspiration in the works of Daisuke Tanabe, Hot Sugar, and Sun Glitters, Gunning has evolved his sound to new organic heights, repurposing found sounds to add a warm and hypnotic touch to his downtempo-leaning soundscapes. His 2014 single “Dancing In My Chair” found a home on the popular Italian label Bad Panda Records and a remix for his idol Sun Glitters was featured on a SVNSET WAVES compilation, both tracks introducing Shelf Nunny to a growing online fanbase.
