“Needs” and “So Many Things” showcase the latest creations of Toronto-via-Winnipeg electronic producer Hudson Alexander. Emerging as a solo electronic artist with contributions on two Hush Hush remix collections as well as the Hush Hush 'Presents Vol. 1' compilation, Hudson’s ear for warm melodies, lush textures, and hypnotic beats continues to shine as he evolves his sound. The mellow downtempo soundscapes of his past are now gone, replaced by a new and inspired focus on the dancefloor.
Both “Needs” and “So Many Things” were born out of a desire to bring his own offerings to the all-night techno/house DJ sets he was piecing together weekly in his hometown of Winnipeg. Created just before his move to Toronto, the two tracks carry a restless creative energy, precisely fusing crisp shuffling beats, ethereal vocals, choice samples, and a subtly enveloping orchestral, organic touch. This new focus on an inviting and adventurous dancefloor yields a pair of beautiful mid-tempo house cuts that embody the textured, nocturnal, and slightly mysterious aesthetic of the Seattle-based Hush Hush label.
